The Paramedic Certificate is a series of five paramedic modules, including one internship course. You will receive 38 hours of college credit and be prepared to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) Paramedic exam, which allows you to apply to become a licensed paramedic in the State of Illinois. This training is considered advanced prehospital emergency care and can exist as a stand-alone profession or can be linked to a fire service career. Paramedics can also work as patient care technicians in hospitals, clinics, or private ambulance companies with this certificate.
The McHenry County College Paramedic program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).
