Program Overview
The Advanced Engineering Technician Program prepares you to work in the field of engineering and technology, specializing in industrial and manufacturing engineering and problem solving. The program is designed to meet the growing need created by the technology revolution for college-educated problem solvers who can support the engineering process.
The demand for engineering technicians exists throughout McHenry County and the entire country. Product and process selection and creation is dependent upon their efforts. Everything that is planned and fabricated, from aerospace to consumer goods, needs detailed designs that must first be tested and then brought into production. As our society becomes more automated and computer enhanced, the need for these professionals will continue to increase.
Engineering technicians are part of the engineer-scientist-technician team that designs and produces a variety of products. Engineering technicians are involved in a variety of projects, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD), implementing engineering directives, material and product testing, design and implementation of production systems, and customer service.
The Advanced Engineering Technician certificate program provides a number of options. Students may wish to earn other related certificates in related engineering technologies, such as the Quality Engineering Technician Certificate or Architectural and Engineering Design Technology Certificate. For students wanting to continue onto a degree, the Advanced Engineering Technician Certificate is fully stackable into the AAS in Engineering Technology .
