BIO 158 - Evolution and Biodiversity 4 Credits Lecture: 3 Lab: 3
Evolution and Biodiversity is designed for biology majors, but it also meets general education lab science requirements. The class examines the processes and patterns of evolution and surveys the diversity of living organisms (i.e., bacteria, archaea, “protists”, plants, fungi, and animals). Organismal structure and function is emphasized in an evolutionary context. Ecological interactions are explored from the population-level to the biosphere, with a special focus on human impacts. The course involves lecture and lab work, including some dissections and outdoor fieldwork.
