Program Overview
The Basic Welding Technician Certificate prepares students for a career in production welding. This certificate gives students the basic skills in Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), and print reading necessary to be successful in the production welding industry. This certificate allows students to become eligible for specialized welding certifications through the American Welding Society (AWS).
The Advanced Welding Technician Certificate is designed for specific advanced careers in production welding, small fabrication shops and the construction industry. Complete the Welding Technician Certificate and then choose from applicable courses in SMAW, GTAW, and Fabrication. The Advanced Welding Technician Certificate allows students to become eligible for specialized welding certifications through the American Welding Society (AWS).

The primary purpose of an Associate in Applied Science degree is to prepare students for employment. The AAS degree is not designed specifically for transfer; however, there are opportunities to apply some coursework or the whole degree to a bachelor’s degree program.
