The Floral Design Certificate teaches students all the elements and principles of floral design necessary for preparing simple to complex floral pieces for a variety of occasions, including holidays, social events, weddings, and funerals. In addition, they will learn how to select, prepare, and handle fresh, dried, and artificial floral materials. Whether you aspire to start your own floral business, work in an established floral shop, or provide design services for special events, this certificate prepares you for the exciting field of floral design.

Floral Design Certificate Requirements

Curriculum: OCC 189

Program Core: 12 Credit Hours

HRT 120 - Introduction to Floral Design 3 Credits
HRT 221 - Advanced Floral Design 3 Credits
HRT 223 - Floral Art 3 Credits

Choose One:

BUS 160 - Introduction to Entrepreneurship 3 Credits
or
HRT 222 - Floral Shop Operations 3 Credits

Total Certificate Credits: 12

Other Certificate Graduation Requirements:

2.0 minimum cumulative GPA at MCC upon completion of program
For certificates of less than 12 credit hours, all required credits must be completed through MCC coursework. For all other certificates, one-half of the minimum credit hours required must be completed through MCC coursework.
