Automotive Electrical Certificate

The Automotive Electrical Certificate trains students for entry-level positions in the automotive electrical field. This includes but is not limited to battery, alternator, and starter service as well as automotive accessory installation and repair. The certificate is a 12 credit hour program.

Additional courses can be taken to build from the Automotive Electrical Certificate to further programs such as the Automotive Maintenance Technician Certificate, Advanced Automotive Technician Certificate, and Automotive AAS degree options.

Other Certificate Graduation Requirements:


  • 2.0 minimum cumulative GPA at MCC upon completion of program
  • For certificates of less than 12 credit hours, all required credits must be completed through MCC coursework. For all other certificates, one-half of the minimum credit hours required must be completed through MCC coursework.
  • Completion of graduation application
  • Completion of end-of-program assessment as directed by this department for OCC 286, Advanced Automotive Technician Certificate.
