Advanced Automotive Technician Certificate

The Advanced Automotive Technician Certificate includes all courses required to meet or exceed Master Automobile Service Technician standards as set by the ASE Education Foundation.

This certificate builds on the Automotive Electrical Certificate, Automotive Chassis Certificate, and Automotive Maintenance Certificate programs. Students who have already earned each of these certificates will receive additional training on repairs related to computerized systems, transmissions and drivetrains, and advanced technologies such as hybrid/electric and ADAS systems with an emphasis on building diagnostic skills in each of these areas.

Other Certificate Graduation Requirements:


  • 2.0 minimum cumulative GPA at MCC upon completion of program
  • For certificates of less than 12 credit hours, all required credits must be completed through MCC coursework. For all other certificates, one-half of the minimum credit hours required must be completed through MCC coursework.
  • Completion of graduation application
  • Completion of end-of-program assessment as directed by this department for OCC 286, Advanced Automotive Technician Certificate.
