Automotive Maintenance Technician Certificate

The Automotive Maintenance Certificate builds on the Automotive Electrical Certificate and Automotive Chassis Certificate programs. In addition to these certificates, students will take an engine technology course in which they will gain additional knowledge of diagnosis and repair of engine mechanical and electronic systems.

MCC's Automotive Maintenance Certificate provides students employable skills to join the workforce and prepares them for the Advanced Automotive Technician Certificate, a 47 credit hour program, or an Associate in Applied Science degree in Automotive Technology.

Other Certificate Graduation Requirements:


  • 2.0 minimum cumulative GPA at MCC upon completion of program
  • For certificates of less than 12 credit hours, all required credits must be completed through MCC coursework. For all other certificates, one-half of the minimum credit hours required must be completed through MCC coursework.
  • Completion of graduation application
  • Completion of end-of-program assessment as directed by this department for OCC 286, Advanced Automotive Technician Certificate.
