FRE 255 - French for Conversation II

3 Credits
Lecture: 3

French for Conversation II builds on French for Conversation I and enhances the student’s ability to communicate in French at an intermediate level with a primary emphasis on speaking. Students will discuss a variety of cultural topics and current events. Listening comprehension skills will also be improved using current French media. Reading and writing assignments will be used as a springboard for conversation.

Note: This is a supplemental course to FRE 251 and FRE 252. Therefore, there will be no systematic study of grammar. This course is not open to students whose first language is French. It does not fulfill a university foreign language requirement, but generally transfers as elective credit. This course requires basic reading and basic writing.

Articulation: 1.1

Prerequisite: FRE 251 with a grade of C or higher, or three years of high school French with a grade of C or higher in both fall and spring semesters of the third year, or appropriate score on the College French placement test (placement into FRE 252).
